FULL RESUME

I have had a life-long involvment with the media - initially with documentary photography and then in television documentary production in the UK. I worked in TV for 12 years, specializing in international development and environment issues. Broadcasters were the BBC, Channel Four TV and the UN.

My first degree was in Social Anthropology from the University of Sussex in the UK (1973). I have an MA in Philosophy and Religion (2003), done in the Philosophy, Cosmology and Consciousness department of the California Institute of Integral Studies. In the following year I taught two courses about contemporary cosmology at the College of Marin, through the Community Education Services department. The first 8 session course was called: The Story of the Universe: Our Origin Story in the 21st Century and the second course was called: The Story of the Universe: Stars, Cells and Ourselves.

From being a teacher at College of Marin, I then became a student in the Multimedia department at the College and did a number of courses in digital photography, video, multimedia for the Web and website design. I also took the opportunity to follow my passion for the sciences by doing courses in Biology, Chemistry, Astronomy, Physics and Environmental Science. I am now pursuing PhD studies back at California Institute of Integral Studies at the same time as developing my media and public presentation work on Photosynthesis and its philosophical aspects in relation to Climate Change and Energy issues.

The aim of my career now is to write, teach and produce materials that inspire a fresh vision of human relationships with nature and with one another.

The vision comes from learning about the story of evolution which began with the birth of the universe and may now be told by the human. When we understand our origins and evolution within the comprehensive context of the universe, we can find the spiritual, intellectual and ethical guidance that we shall need if we are to adequately deal with the massive challenges before us during the 21st Century.

The importance of education for sustainability cannot be over-stated. I am working on production of educational media in English and Spanish for distribution to schools and colleges. I am also preparing a multidisciplinary curriculum for college students, designed to cultivate critical thought in relation to the 21st Century. The next great phase of evolution of life on Earth is in our hands - but only in intimate partnership with nature.
